Things have been a little quieter on the blog lately, but not because Virtual Ventures has gone quiet behind the scenes.

It is more the opposite.

I have been spending a lot of time working on the website itself, especially making sure it feels right on both mobile and desktop. Not just functional. Not just “it loads and the buttons work.” I want it to feel warm, clear, cosy, and inviting from the moment someone lands here.

Because this website is not just meant to be a shop.

It is meant to become the main home for Virtual Ventures.

Why the Website Comes First

Before I can properly focus on products, patterns, videos, livestreams, and all the other lovely plans sitting in my brain like yarn balls in a basket, I need the website to be built properly.

This is the place where everything will connect together.

Social media is useful, of course, but it can feel noisy and rushed. You open an app to check one thing and suddenly you are being pulled in ten different directions by posts, adverts, comments, trends, and whatever the algorithm has decided to throw into your lap that day.

I want the Virtual Ventures website to feel different.

I want it to feel like stepping into a warm little workshop corner with a diary open on the table, a blanket nearby, and a warm drink beside you. Somewhere slower. Somewhere easier to follow. Somewhere that does not lose the cosy feeling the second you arrive.

That is why I care so much about how it looks and how it feels.

A Place for Updates, Help, and Honest Notes

As Virtual Ventures grows, this website will become the place to check for proper updates.

That might mean pattern news, yarn changes, livestream announcements, video updates, behind-the-scenes progress, or little notes when something has gone wrong.

If a yarn used in one of my patterns gets discontinued, this is where I can explain what has changed and suggest an alternative. If I spot a mistake in a pattern, this is where I can post the correction clearly so nobody has to guess or panic halfway through a project.

If orders are ever delayed, this is where I can be honest about why. Maybe one of my machines has broken. Maybe supplies are late. Maybe I need a little more time to make sure something is finished properly rather than rushed out badly.

I would much rather have one clear, calm place for those updates than scatter important information across different social media posts where it can easily get buried.

The Future Home of Craft and Chatter

The website will also become the place to check what is happening with livestreams.

Some days the update might be, “No livestream today, something has come up.”

Other days it might be, “Livestream is happening today, come grab your current project, your blanket, your tea, coffee, or cocoa, and join us for a natter.”

That is the feeling I want for Crochet and Chatter.

Not a stiff, awkward livestream where everyone feels like they need to know exactly what they are doing. More like a friendly table where people can bring whatever hobby they are working on and settle in for a chat.

Crochet, knitting, drawing, sewing, 3D printing, laser ideas, journaling, planning, or anything else that keeps your hands busy. You do not have to be working on the same thing as me to join in.

You might ask for a tip. You might share something you have learned. You might find someone else in the chat who does the same hobby. Or you might just sit quietly with your project and enjoy having some company while you make.

That still counts.

Building the Warmth Before Filling the Shelves

It is tempting to rush straight into selling, posting, filming, and trying to do everything at once, but I know the foundation matters.

If the website becomes the heart of Virtual Ventures, then it needs to feel like the heart from the start.

That means making the pages easier to use. Making the mobile version feel just as cared for as desktop. Organising the blog, gallery, shop, patterns, and future updates properly. Making sure people can find what they need without getting lost in a maze of buttons and broken breadcrumbs.

Some weeks, the making is not a crochet creature or a finished product.

Some weeks, the making is the place where all those things will eventually live.

That is where I am right now.

Building the walls, lighting the little lamps, sorting the shelves, sweeping the workshop floor, and trying to make Virtual Ventures feel like somewhere people will want to come back to.

The blog may have been quieter, but the kettle is still on.

I am still here, still building, and still very excited for what this little space is becoming.
