Hello from the workshop
Handmade things, useful ideas and a little everyday magic.
Virtual Ventures is a UK-based creative workshop for crochet creatures, custom patterns, engraved items, planners, books, tutorials, 3D printed helpers and the odd useful little thing that starts life as a scribble in a notebook.
This space is being built slowly and honestly. Right now, that means designing the website, shaping the shop, planning future patterns, testing ideas and documenting the process as it grows. The aim is simple: share creativity, keep making, and hopefully send a few smiles out into the world along the way.
Who am I?
The maker behind Virtual Ventures
I’m the maker behind Virtual Ventures. I’m happiest when my hands are busy and an idea has somewhere to go. Crochet is the heart of the workshop, but my busy maker-brain does not politely stay in one box, so the workshop also includes laser engraving, 3D printing, website building, planners, books, tutorials and whatever creative rabbit hole starts glowing next.
For privacy and safety, I keep personal details separate from the business. Virtual Ventures is the public face of the work: the making, the learning, the experiments, the finished pieces and the stories behind them.
Why Virtual Ventures?
Because creativity is better when it gets shared.
Virtual Ventures exists because I needed a place to share my creativity with the world. Over time, people have fallen in love with crochet pieces I made, especially while following other makers’ patterns, and that has meant more than I can properly explain.
Now it feels like time to start creating my own patterns, sharing what I learn, and building something that can grow into a proper handmade business. Not just the shiny finished bits either. I want to share the successes, the failures, the “why is this stitch count being dramatic?” moments, and the occasional “whoops, looks like I broke the 3D printer” chapter too.
What do I make?
Crochet, engraving, planners, tools and tiny useful things.
Virtual Ventures will bring together handmade crochet items, custom crochet patterns, engraved pieces, planners, books, YouTube tutorials and eventually STL files for 3D printed craft helpers.
Some products will be physical, some will be digital, and some will begin as experiments before they earn a proper place on the shelf. The common thread is that everything should feel thoughtful, useful, handmade or genuinely helpful. Cute is lovely. Useful cute is even better.
Handmade honesty
Patterns take time, testing and real hands.
AI is useful, but it is not the maker here. I use AI to help turn rambling notes into clearer wording, check spelling, organise ideas and verify code. If it is ever used in another way, I will be honest about it.
The designs, crochet work, photos, editing and finished products are created by me. Future patterns will be made, tested, checked and improved by real hands, not generated and tossed online like a yarn ball into a ceiling fan.
The flood of AI crochet patterns online is worrying because crochet patterns need more than confident-looking instructions. They need testing. They need fixing. They need someone to actually make the thing. Virtual Ventures is a safe, honest space for handmade work, real process and eventually ideas shaped with the community too.
Behind the scenes
The good bits, the messy bits and the learning bits.
A lot of business pages only show the polished final product. Virtual Ventures will show more than that. The blog is here for the making process, the experiments, the lessons, the broken attempts, the improvements and the tiny victories that happen before something is ready to sell.
That might mean a crochet idea that needs three versions before it works, a website feature that takes longer than planned, a laser test that teaches me what not to do, or a 3D print that fails spectacularly but still earns its place in the story.
Dog-friendly workshop
A tiny note about dog glitter.
Virtual Ventures is made in a real home workshop, which means dogs may occasionally appear in behind-the-scenes photos. Finished items will always be handled carefully, but if physical crochet pieces are sold in the future, I’ll be clear and honest that they are made in a dog-friendly space.

What comes next?
Patterns, tutorials, live streams and a growing handmade shop.
Virtual Ventures is still growing. The next steps include building the shop, creating original crochet patterns, making YouTube tutorials, preparing planners and books, designing engraved items, testing 3D printed helpers and eventually running cosy live streams.
This is not trying to become a giant polished factory. It is a handmade corner with a lot of ideas, a lot of learning, and a community-shaped future. I want Virtual Ventures to become a place where people can follow the process, trust the products and feel part of the adventure.
Virtual Ventures exists to share creativity, document the process and make handmade things that carry a little smile with them.
